Yard work

Yard work just seems to be never ending. Especially in this gigando yard. We can spend hours out there and then when you step back to look at what you've done, it feels like you've barely made a dent. It's a good thing its pretty fun for the most part. I like to do it. My favorite is mowing the back lawn with riding lawn mower. I'm not sure if i'm the most 'qualified' but I have fun. This week is the first week since last summer that I've been back on the mower and I was telling Ryan a few 'stories' from last year....like when I was going in reverse a wee-bit  too fast and knocked over the neighbors garbage can, spilling everything all over his driveway. And the time I hit the drainage gully a wee-bit too hard and jiggled the front grill right off mower, and then before I knew it, ran the darn thing over and all the little plastic shrapnel got shot out from the blades and scattered all over the yard.  Oopsie! OR.. the time the I got high centered on the metal water main cover thingy that was supposed to be buried even with the lawn but instead sticks up out of the ground. (Ryan knew about this one, 'cause he had to come lift the mower off :) )
What?! It's not my fault the contractor that put in the yard did a crap job!!

Speaking of crap job by whoever put in the grass, they also botched up the sprinklers pretty good too! lol. Im  pretty sure Ryan has redone the entire system. Our latest adventure was yesterday. There is a spot next to the driveway, that doesn't even have grass might I add, that keeps flooding. Turns out someone buried the pvc pipes that connect all the sprinklers only 2 inches below the surface. Bad idea! So at some point one of the boys drove over it and cracked the pipe. We had to dig it all up and replace the pipes. The funny part was it was still leaking, but to replace the pipes the water has to be gone. It was like bailing out a sinking boat and all we could find to bail water was a little plastic drip pan that goes on the bottom of a flower pot. :) And right as I got to the last bucket of water, the sprinklers turned on and flooded the whole darn thing again. lol!

This is me emptying out the hole for the second time. :) hahaha

Dirty job :) good thing I married me a handy man!

And then....I planted a tree. A cute little shade tree.
There isn't much shade yet with those 10 little leaves, but in 10 years, that baby will be beautiful!
